First prototype of SPAD CMOS sensors for the project

The University of Barcelona (UB) has designed and fabricated the first prototype of SPAD CMOS sensors for the project.

The UB is responsible in ChipScope for the driving electronics for the nanoLED array and the optical sensor that will measure the amount of light coming from the sample. SPAD CMOS sensors are one type of photodiodes with particular biasing conditions that make them extremely sensitive to photons and very fast.

Within the project the UB has fabricated the chips through the EUROPRACTICE IC Service, offered by IMEC (Belgium), and fabricated in a foundry in Austria, through a Multi Project Wafer (MPW) run.
